How many admins?

January 31, 2010

Yes, the title of this thread may or may not seem confusing to you..

A while back, me and a friend were almost done setting up our reseller package (the website and stuff) but we had to transfer the domain (because 1and1 doesn’t ‘do’ dns…) so we got refunded for the hosting for that week or so.

The next day, we tried transferring the domain to GoDaddy but because if iCann policies, we needed to wait 60 days (because it was a brand new domain).

I had the thought in the back of my mind that my ‘partner’ would try to take money out of the paypal account or something (I don’t know.. Anything is possible :)).. But then a friend of mine from school got talking to my partner. My friend said that my partner was going to take the money and make the business his. I thought about it and at first, it was possible since he owned the domain and I owned the reseller (only I could change the whm password) but when we were going to transfer the domain to me (at godaddy), I knew he couldn’t really ’steal’ the business without knowing my login info for godaddy and the reseller.

So I have decided to just let it go for now. (I don’t have any money because I had to buy some upgrades for my computer.) But I was wondering, could I really manage a web hosting business by myself? What would be the difference between just me OR me and my partner? I know support would be a bit easier and monitoring accounts and whatnot..

I have stumbled across a few hosts that are being run by one person but they get alot of bad testimonials (here and on google)..

So I was wondering, what can I do? I want to get into hosting because it’s good money, I love fixing problems (support), and it’s not the hardest thing in the world (until i have to upgrade ;))

Edit: Sorry for all the typing.. I just wanted good background info for anybody that needed to know why.
